It’s finally happening. After years of fan outcry, teases, and outright confusion on Square Enix’s part. A Final Fantasy VII remake will soon be upon us. To be clear, this is not another port of the popular game, something that Square Enix made abundantly clear at last year’s PlayStation Experience, much to fan’s dismay.
The news comes from Sony’s E3 2015 press conference. The Final Fantasy VII remake may coincide with the 20th anniversary of the game, according to Siliconera.
Prior to E3, several news outlets reported that the game’s possible emergence was a strong one. A credible NeoGAF user shared that production on the long anticipated remake began in early 2015, adding that “it will be announced this week for a 2017 release.”
The game will come first to PlayStation 4 as announced by Adam Boyes.
